Chris Brown may be one of the more consistent artists of this generation, releasing constant music and/or appearing on numerous features in recent years. The singer is also unfortunately consistent in legal woes stemming from various accusations and allegations. The ladies love him, but quite a few despise him for his past transgressions with women, especially the Rihanna incident. The latest bit of despair to come to his doorstep stems from a woman who accuses him of “snatching her wig”, but not in the usual sense that is commonly used.
The “Slime & B” singer was living in the lap of success as his first two albums easily flew off the shelves when they dropped. When “Run It” dropped, some questioned who the young superstar was who not only sang his way into our hearts but easily danced right into it. Others were quickly sold. By the time “Yo! (Excuse Me Miss)” was released, Chris Brown was officially the new guy and was here to stay.
However, in February of 2009 Chris Brown and his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, would steal headlines after it was reported the two were involved in a severe altercation. Intense media scrutiny would follow and continue to plague him for years after the incident. Brown apologized after hiring a crisis management team at the time, sharing that he was at a loss for words at what happened.
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” the singer shared in a statement. “I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother, and other loved ones and I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person.”
A simple apology wouldn’t cut it as the damage had already (literally) been done. Radio stations refused to play his music, endorsement deals slowed down or stopped, and many artists soon distanced themselves from him. Brown’s resilience and hard work, over time, garnered him the support and love from many fans who to this day follow the mantra, “that’s my man… and imma stick beside him.”
As his popularity was once again on the rise, some became the legal troubles again. It would seem as if every year, another report would surface involving Chris Brown and his issues with law enforcement, or with random civilians whether it be in a club, party, or somewhere else. Some cases occurred overseas. According to a CNN report, Brown has been banned from Australia, New Zealand, The UK, and Canada, due to his past woes.
Brown is now reportedly being investigated by law enforcement after new claims that a woman made saying that he assaulted her in his San Fernando Valley home in Los Angeles County. According to a report by TMZ, police were called by a woman at Brown’s residence, claiming that the singer allegedly “slapped her” in the back of her head. The impact of the slap was alleged to have been so hard that it knocked out a partial part of the woman’s weave.
TMZ is reporting that the LAPD is now investigating the singer in a battery probe, although no injuries were reported by the woman (sans the missing weave). He could possibly face a misdemeanor charge.
