R&B singer Ne-Yo has a new baby on the way. The “So Sick” singer is welcoming a new child with wife Crystal Renay. The couple made the announcement via instagram with a video.
“Overjoyed to announce…… the family is expanding…👶🏽!” Ne-Yo said, adding “You ready baby? Let’s go!” The video shows Crystal showing off her baby bump wearing nothing else but underwear, while Ne-Yo stands behind her covering her bare chest with one arm and holding her belly with the other.
The caption also featured the hashtags “#Number5 #5thandFinal #BlessingsOnBlessings.” 5th and final is a reference to this being Ne-Yo’s 5th child. He shares two with Crystal, Roman Alexander-Raj, 2½, and Shaffer Chimere Jr. He also shares 2 kids from a previous relationship with Monyetta Shaw, Mason Evan, 9, and daughter Madilyn Grace, 10.
Fans were quick to point out that while with Shaw, Ne-Yo had asked her to get a tubal ligation, a procedure used to stop pregnancy because at the time he did not want anymore kids.
In an interview with the New York Post in 2016, she told them the couple had decided on the procedure together because after having both a boy an girl, their family felt “complete”.
“Sterilization was something Ne-Yo and I discussed thoroughly in the months leading up to the baby’s delivery.” She also explained that he had plans to also have a vasectomy, but never followed through on his promise.
“Ne-Yo also agreed to undergo a vasectomy to show our mutual commitment to the relationship,” she said. “Before the doctors finished up in the delivery room, I told them, ‘I want you to burn my fallopian tubes.’ The doctor must have asked us eight times if this was what we wanted,” she said. “Each time, we both replied, ‘Yes.'”

She confessed that after having the procedure, she was so busy caring for their kids she never followed up to see if he had kept his end of the deal. “I trust him so much that it never even crossed my mind that he hadn’t gone through with it.”
Shortly afterwards, the couple split right before their wedding. Shaw was understandably “hurt and distraught”.
Fans quickly pointed out Ne-Yo’s hypocrisy in having 3 more kids after leaving Shaw unable to conceive anymore of her own if she wanted. “Ne-Yo on his 5th pregnancy with his current wife after making his ex wife tie her tubes cause he didn’t want kids, I still can’t get over this.” tweeted one person. One Youtuber specifically caught Neyo’s attention after calling singer ‘Trash’ amid allegations.
Neyo clapped back at the YouTube, asking how else could she judge him and his shortcomings unless she has never made mistakes herself.
