R&B singer Tamar Braxton has had a rough couple years. The vocalist turned reality star turned talk show host was on top of the world 4 or 5 years back, but it seems like she can’t catch much of a break these days. Recent revelations bring to light just how bad its been for the youngest Braxton in recent times.
Tamar and ex-husband Vincent Herbert built a multimedia empire together than spanned music, reality television and daytime TV. Hit show Braxton Family Values established Tamar as the brazzy outspoken younger sister with the voice larger than life. This quickly translated into a successful music career with several albums and hit singles to her name.
Rumors of issues behind the scenes began to manifest themselves front and center, first in the form of Tamar getting the boot from The Real. This eventually lead to her divorce from Vincent. At the time that they initially files, Tamar said on her instagram that “Sometimes we stay ‘married’ for face value or to say ‘we did it’ but the truth is…it couldn’t be more broken &further apart than we are NOW!”
Some silver lining came in the form of a new boyfriend, David Afeso. The pair took to social media to show off their new love and sing each others praises, before turning on each other. The relationship ended with claims of domestic abuse and raising concerns about Tamar and her mental health.
That split certainly sent Tamar into a tailspin, with her career seeming to crash around her in the process. Medical emergencies and issues with television network WEtv added to the drama. In a post around that time, she told her followers “Over the past 11 years there were promises made to protect and portray my story, with the authenticity and honesty I gave. I was betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid. I wrote a letter over 2 months ago asking to be freed from what I believed was excessive and unfair. I explained in personal detail the demise I was experiencing.”
Tamar was so broken by the treatment of the network and issues in her life, the singer attempted to end it all.
Speaking on her attempt, Tamar explained to Taraji B Henson on her show Peace of Mind that she felt like she’d failed her son, and that maybe he “deserved better”.
“Logan was the reason why I made that decision. I just felt like he deserved better. I felt like I was embarrassing him, being a fool on TV.”
In the time since, it seem Tamar has been making steps to get better, however she recently revealed that it did somehow manage to get darker right before. She broke the news that her and son Logan were homeless for a stint.
Tamar spoke about her recent homelessness yesterday on an Instagram post before editing the original post. The singer told fans, “I had no idea what my life would look like a few months ago. when I was homeless.” The post featured a look at her new home.
Before editing the post, fans were able to capture a screenshot, some even calling out the singer for ‘reaching’ and the word ‘homeless’ so freely.
