Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City’s Mary Cosby Under Fire For Marrying Her Late Grandmother’s Husband, Says It Was Her Grandmother’s Will

2020 sees the addition of a new Real Housewives franchise to the Bravo network, this time set in Salt Lake City. Debuting the second week of November 2020, the show’s promos have proven that this will be another hit in the franchise. One particular cast mate’s story is driving a lot of conversation – and side eyes.

Both are the norm for the franchises all over the country and happened to a different cast mate in the Atlanta spinoff, who showed up for a fellow cast member’s wedding wearing something wildly inappropriate.

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey tied the knot with her longtime friend Mike Hill in Acworth, Georgia in a beautiful ceremony that was attended by practically every Black Housewives star, ever. The bride, former model Cynthia Bailey, stunned in a dress that featured cutouts along the length of the dress. Other guests stunned as well, even if they were showing a bit too much possibly.

“Mike and I are elated that today has finally come! 10/10/20 is and always will be our perfect date. We are not perfect, but, are perfect for each other,” Cynthia told PEOPLE on her wedding day. “We are living in a very different time, and now more than ever we realize that life is too short, and to never take anything for granted. We are so grateful to have found each other. Love with the help of God conquers all.”

The Internet, while congratulating Bailey and commenting on their favorite stars’ fashions for the event also took the chance to call out a few of the cast mates for their choices of looks on Cynthia’s wedding day.

Former Atlanta Hawks cheerleader Shamea Morton was chastised for wearing a black, sheer dress that revealed more than most people would have liked for an upscale wedding of this caliber, though she looked stunning alongside the person who brought her, Porsha Williams – whose black dress went over like gangbusters.

Fans loved Williams’ look, with one of them even comparing her to a Barbie. “A real-life BLACK Barbie, you look amazing. 🥵🔥,” they wrote. While that may be the case for the women down South, in Salt Lake City apparently, fans aren’t down for who a new cast member married and how she’s sharing the story with her new TV audience.

Cast member in Salt Lake City, Mary Cosby has been married for over 22 years – to her late grandmother’s husband, who is 62. While on the surface, the story may lead you to wonder how in the world that would happen, but according to Cosby, it’s not that big of a deal.

In a clip from tonight’s episode, Mary said, “We were kind of in an arranged marriage. It was in my grandmother’s will for us to marry.” Apparently, her late grandmother told Robert, “If anything ever happens to me Bobby, I want you to marry one of my girls because they’ll look out for you.” Mary added, “We’re blessed to this day because of it.”

Another clip has also emerged of Cosby talking about this very same issue with another Housewife from a different franchise – Teresa Giudice.

“I’m busting through with this grandfather story, backlash. I don’t care. It’s not my blood. It was a family situation that I knew was right. They’re coming at me like I’m incest. I’m gross. And I’m marrying my grandfather, which sounds ridiculous. But I think—well, it does sound ridiculous. It’s my story and I’m not ashamed of it. I feel like I’d rather have kept my grandmother’s empire together than to have listened to the people and be let them be lost in life. It was 22 years ago. We’ve been married 22 years. So you understand when it’s old. It’s old to me now.”
