Salt N Pepa have been busy doing the rounds for their recent Lifetime biopic. The film, which premiered on January 23, 2020, rehashed a lot of the woman’s storied history, from their humble beginnings at Queensborough Community College to becoming global Hip-Hop stars.
While the two were heavily involved in the film, one person that wasn’t was their DJ and and on again off again third member Spinderella. Spin was obviously hurt by her exclusion from the film, and has taken the opportunity to call out her former bandmates in several interviews of her own.
Speaking with Billboard Magazine after the films premier, she confessed to feeling left out, and confessed that her relationship with Salt and Pepa is “over”.
“The relationship is over…when you have a legacy, you want to make sure that would outweigh this stuff. So I’m not, you know, I’m not closed off to that, but I will be respected. I will be treated fairly…I will never be in a group that does not want to be with me.”
Sorry but I gotta speak on this Lifetime special.., Too often, Black women who have made meaningful contributions in their industry are left out of historical narratives.— Spinderella (@Spindeezy) January 22, 2021
In an interview with The Real, Salt and Pepa refuted claims that they excluded Spinderella. “I feel like it’s very unfortunate,” Salt replied. “We’ve come to a crossroads where we have decided to agree to disagree. I definitely am open and Pepa’s open. We’ve talked about it and our hearts are open, have always been open to Spinderella.”

Their interviews haven’t been all damage control, however. The ladies have taken time to shed light on other revelations from their past not covered in their film.
In an interview with Angela Yee the pair recalled their video shoot for “Whatta Man” featuring En Vogue.
Salt reveals that she got a little turned on during her bedroom scene with late rapper 2pac. “My favorite part of that day was being in bed with 2pac. my toes were curling in that bed [screams] like ohhh my god!” she recalled.
“Was he nice on set?” asked Angela.
“Yes, he was very nice. I asked him to do it for me and he showed up. My daughter’s father was in the room at the moment and i had to ask him to leave because he knew 2pac also.”
