Saweetie and Quavo are still reeling from the recently leaked video of their elevator incident that has everyone talking. The pair called it quit a few weeks ago, but pieces of the puzzle keep coming out daily as to why they may have split. Fans have been speculating as have popular personalities like DJ Akademiks.
Saweetie and Quavo sparked rumors of their split back when fans noticed the two had unfollowed each other on social media. Shortly afterwards, Saweetie released a statement letting fans know that she was back on the market.
“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character.” She elaborated“I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. Excited for this new chapter of elevation.”
Quavo hit back saying “I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.”
Things escalated when Quavo reportedly sent a repo man to her house to pick up the bentley he’d gotten her for Christmas. This came after Quavo tweeted that he knew Saweetie was trying to turn their breakup into a show and decided to “play his part” this one time.

The show officially kicked off however when the video of their elevator fight leaked. While Saweetie chimed in and let people know the fight was from over a year ago, it was still shocking to many to see the couple in such a vulnerable and toxic place.

Well according to DJ Akademiks, this exactly what Saweetie wanted since she’s the one to leak the video.
“TMZ didn’t have this video in the tuck. Someone shopped this video to TMZ recently. They paid between like, approximately fifty to one hundred thousand dollars,” said Akademiks. “If they had this video all along, it would have dropped. They just got this video. Why would this video just automatically come out now. Why now?! Who would this benefit?! We have to ask these questions because, again, while we’re not—I wanna be very delicate. We always will side with a victim but we won’t ever ignore the possibility where someone’s trying to run with a narrative.”
He added, “”And Saweetie, it appears that you’re trying to do so,” Akademiks continued. “I think she put this video into the ecosphere and said, “N***as gon’ call this n***a an abuser, yeah.’ You know why? ‘Cause after she told the world he cheated, people were still split half and half.”
