In 2006, Kelis let the world know what her “Milkshake” does. It’s 2021, and she’s giving more than milkshake. Over the last few years, the singer/songwriter has been expanding her gifts to more than just music.
The mother of three took a break from creating albums to bring her gifts to the culinary world at one point. Taking her inspiration from her mother, who was a chef that ran her own catering business while she growing up in New York according to Cuisine Noir, she aspired to create dishes which led to the release of her 2015 cookbook My Life On A Plate. Kelis also trained at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu as a saucier.
“I have seven albums under my belt and I’ve never felt so accomplished,” the Bossy singer told Time. “It’s funny, though, because even having gone to school and having done everything that every other trained chef has done, people still want to question or discredit [me] or make it like, ‘Oh, cute!'”
It’s been 6 years since the release of her last album, Food, and Kelis has seemingly taken her skills to develop her lifestyle brand more. As of 2019, she, her husband Mike Mora, and their children have moved to a 24-acre farm two and a half hours outside of Los Angeles. She also runs an online lifestyle shop, BountyandFull.com.
“My whole life I’ve had these ideas and goals at its epicenter,” she writes on the website. “I’m so excited to be able to open up my closets, storage units, crates upon crates of berried treasures, just for you. Over the past 20 years, I have been blessed to be able to tour the world and to curate some of my favorite items along the way. I have been collecting and putting pieces together for years, just waiting to have the right time to set up a shop. It’s funny how life works and when you least expect it you are presented with an opportunity to finally put your dream to action. Being that the state of the world currently has stopped so many of us in our tracks. I’m grateful for the time I had to think, be introspective, pray, and get to work.”
She adds that “With the help of some very special and hard-working people, I’ve been able to unearth some of the collectibles I’ve gathered and bring them to the light in a time when I think we could all use a little color and luxury. Every item was handpicked by me. There are no two alike. All handcrafted and individual just like you.”
Fans that have come across the website have noticed a jewelry collection with prices that exceed “mortgage repayment amounts” for the custom made pieces. Most of the collection’s prices range from $65 to $425, but one specific body chain said to be “handmade and sourced by Kelis through her travels” for the company, is priced at $600. The piece also claims to have “genuine pearls from South Pacific seas.”

Some fans are divided on the jewelry and its price range. “Testing the waters to see if there are enough stans who are dumb enough to pay for it. I ain’t mad at it,” wrote one fan, while another supporter wrote “If it’s a real emerald and freshwater pearls then okay. plus her name is a selling point, I am not mad at it.” One fan brought up the cost of real pearls and emeralds, saying they “aren’t cheap. Plus you have to mark the price up a bit to turn a profit and make money to afford more supplies to make more of the product, so the price isn’t that bad.”
One fan was not as much a believer writing, “Those look like some bougie silkworms modeling on a runway. She tried it. Only a FOOL would pay for silkworm jewelry.”
Kelis was last seen as a contestant on the British version of The Masked Singer where she competed as “The Daisy”. She was eliminated in the fifth episode. She’s also gearing up for the release of a new album this year, preceded by the upcoming single “Midnight Snacks”.
