Singer Rihanna Reveals She Still Loves Ex-Boyfriend Chris Brown, Admits The Singer Is Her True Love’ In Resurfaced Oprah Interview

She’s also been very outspoken on various issues, including COVID-19, natural disasters, abuse against women and more. Partnering with the artist/executive that discovered her, Jay Z, the two titans of music donated $2 million dollars to support undocumented workers, the incarcerated, homeless and elderly populations, and children of frontline healthcare workers in both L.A. and NYC during the pandemic.

Rihanna’s not stopped promoting her brand Fenty during this lockdown, continuing to keep her foot on necks with stunning photos that highlight her beauty while also focusing on the products that she’s created for diverse women. She’s her biggest brand ambassador, even though she features some of the most diverse women and influencers on the planet in her marketing.

Her support of ambassador Megan Thee Stallion was unofficially noted when influencer Draya Michelle’s Fenty X Savage sponsorship was allegedly pulled in wake of disparaging comments she made about Megan’s pending case of abuse at the hands of rapper Tory Lanez.

“I predict that they had some sort of Bobby & Whitney love that drove them down this type of road. I’m here for it. I like that. I want you to like me so much you sh**t me in the foot too,” Draya said during an ill-fated podcast appearance.

It’s common knowledge that Rihanna, head of the brand that was sponsoring her, had suffered similar abuse at the hands of her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. People were stunned at her comment, to which she eventually apologized. But the joke no doubt triggered Rihanna, who more than likely pulled the plug on Draya’s plug for free clothes.

In a recently resurfaced interview from 2012, Rihanna at one point shared her healing with Oprah on Oprah’s Next Chapter series on OWN – which has now found its way into a 2020 podcast of Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations. In it, Rihanna shared that Chris was her “true love” whom she “still” loved, even though she has forgiven him and moved on.

“We’ve been working on our friendship again and now we’re very, very close friends,” Rihanna shared. “We’ve built a trust again, and that’s it. We love each other and we probably always will. That’s not anything that we’re going to try to change. That’s not something you can shut off if you’ve ever been in love.”

She seemed to realize that forgiveness was for herself, when she took stock of how their interactions had changed her. “It took me a long time. I was angry for a long time. I was resentful, I held a grudge. I was dark. I was angry. It was coming out in my music and my clothes and my attitude. I didn’t like that feeling. It was heavy.”

Even when she saw Chris in public after their relationship had ended so publicly, it still affected her but she was able to realize the feeling and meet it before it took over her in the moment.

“It’s awkward because I still love him. My stomach drops. I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me. I have to maintain that and suppress it and interpret it and understand it and understand that it’s not going to go away. That is peaceful. If you don’t understand those feelings, you can make a lot of mistakes.”
