Rapper Snoop Dogg and his family have been having it rough for the last few days. Earlier this month, it was reported that he took to Instagram to request prayers for his mother. Included in those prayers now should be his daughter, Cori Broadus.
Snoop Dogg, affectionately known as “Uncle Snoop” by many, solicited prayers for his mother, author and evangelist Beverly Broadus Green. Throughout his career, Beverly was there loving, supporting, and praying for her son. Snoop shared in his interview with Red Table Talk that it was her that convinced him to rectify the situation that stemmed from his harsh words and criticism towards Gayle King.
“My mother raised me in church, and she raised me to respect women,” said Snoop, PEOPLE reports. “It was certain things she said to me that took me back to being a little kid. And when your mama can make you feel like a kid, that’s when you gotta get right.”
Never shy of his undying love and appreciation for his mother, Snoop emotionally uploaded photos and video clips to his main page and Instagram Stories in dedication to his mother as he reflected on her. “Sending special prayers out for my mom this morning y’all pray for her and me,” he wrote without sharing the exact reasoning.
In another post on May 7th, Snoop once again asked for prayers in a post. “I need all my prayer warriors for Momma right now, please and thank you,” wrote the “I Wanna Thank Me” rapper. Immediately fans, friends, and various celebrities hopped in the comment section as well as sending out independent messages of prayers for Mama Snoop.
Recently the rapper shared photos of his family at what looks to be a hospital as they all gathered together for family prayer, captioning the photo “prayer warriors.” In another photo, the rapper is posed in the middle of his two brothers, or “Beverly’s Boys” as he states at the beginning of the post’s caption, as they visit their mother in the facility.
As she continues to fight on and the prayers continue to go up for a speedy recovery, the prayers should now include his daughter, Cori. Recently, the rapper’s daughter uploaded a set of photos that showed her with her boyfriend on an intimate outing as she brought awareness to what she had been struggling with due to mental health issues.
Cori, who goes by “PrincessBroadus” on Instagram, took to the platform to express: “The last few weeks my mental has not been so great at one point I tried to end my life but you & my family really give me a purpose to live & helped me realize Iife is much more than materialistic things & you gotta just keep pushing through the [BS]. THANK YOU”
Fans and supporters quickly flocked to her comment section to bring their love and support. Singer Monica expressed her concern and support as well. “Niece you’re TOO LOVED to have to be missed,” the “Trenches” singer exclaimed. “We need your presence and [heart emoji] love! I put that on @bosslady_ent & @snoopdogg.”
Update: Cori has provided more details on her attempt to end her life. On Monday, the 21-Year-Old posted a follow-up video, also detailing how she’s been being teased about her weight, skin-tone and looks since age of 13 when she initially contemplated taking her own life.
“People used to always talk about me, ‘You’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re dark, you’re this, you’re that.’ And I used to cry,” Cori said. “At 13, I was ready to die. Just so sad, crying to my mom like, ‘I’m so ugly, why did you have me? Why do I look like this? Why don’t I look like my brothers?’ It was just so many why, why, why’s.”
