The fallout continues from the disastrous attempt at surprising co-host LisaRaye on her birthday with an appearance from her sister, rapper Da Brat. While the other “Cocktails with Queens” co-hosts were trying to do something nice for LisaRaye, they opened up a rift that had been simmering for a while, and now Da Brat’s new girlfriend may have something to say about how Da Brat was treated on-air.
The actress celebrated her birthday on Monday, and on the “Queens” episode, her co-hosts surprised her with an appearance from Da Brat, to which they thought would be a great surprise. However, it took a turn when Brat popped up on the screen, as McCoy immediately became emotional and shut down. Her reason? Da Brat revealed the two haven’t been in contact for several months as there has been distance created between them.
“No, I’m not surprised,” she said. “We kind of been a little distant or whatever, so I know she’s really surprised because we’ve had a little space in our relationship or whatever. From nothing bad, but I was just going through a bunch of stuff, and, you know, I didn’t want to worry anybody, and I have a whole new significant other situation, and I was kind of scared to talk to her about it. So, I haven’t seen or talked to her in a long time.”
There seems to be a lot of beef between the two around Da Brat’s coming out a few weeks ago.
Da Brat, who is also the first female rapper to go platinum and a co-host on Fox’s “Dish Nation”, made headlines when she made the decision to come out publicly after years of speculation and confirmed her relationship with Kaleidoscope Hair Products CEO Jesseca Dupart in an emotional post on Instagram.
Brat told Variety in the Pride cover story about the unplanned announcement and how nobody in her immediate circle was privy to it happening. “Jesseca was showing me some pictures and we were going back and forth, joking ‘I’ll post it,’ ‘No, I’ll post it’,” she explained. “So when she did, I was like, ‘Oh sh*t! I just came out after 20-something years!’ But it feels good to share with the world when you’re happy.”
While Da Brat is happy, it was clear from the clip of her surprise appearance that her sister LisaRaye wasn’t happy that she wasn’t included in the news and it left her hurt – and she lashed out heavy during the interview.
The co-hosts tried their best to have the two come together peacefully, as even the Dish Nation co-host seemed to be ready to let bygones be bygones. McCoy wasn’t having it, however, as she interjected “I don’t give a f*ck what y’all saying. At all,” as it pertains to making peace.
It turns out that now, Da Brat’s partner may have some issues with how LisaRaye handled the interview on-air – even if she hasn’t had the chance to even meet her potential sister-in-law.
The Internet took notice when Dupart posted a picture, and then deleted, of her seemingly being held back by Da Brat and having a somewhat aggressive caption. “MOOD !! Nah what was said…” she wrote, which many took to mean that she didn’t like what LisaRaye was saying about her relationship, her partner and maybe even more.

Fans clapped back following the post going viral insisting Dupart needs to stay out of family business. One fan stated, ‘Stay out of family business cus like Lisa said y’all don’t know shit!!’ Other fans insisted, Lisa Raye is the wrong person to play with stating, “She better SAT DOWN! 🤦🏿♀️ LRaye is not to be messed with.” Check out more responses below.
