Kenneth Petty, the husband of Nicki Minaj has been a fixture by her side since the couple went public in 2018. The pair, who met as childhood friends, have been inseparable since reuniting as adults, having gotten married and welcomed a baby boy in late 2020.
It seems drama and tragedy have been plaguing everyone at Nicki Minaj’s side. Last year her family were thrusted into the headline during a nasty court hearing for Nicki Minaj’s brother, who was eventually sentence to life in prison.
Last month Nicki Minaj’s family was rocked again after her father passed away after hit and run incident.
Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty’s past has also been a cause for concern. The Queens native has a history of legal issues stemming back to the 90’s. Several mugshots have leaked from his various charges over the year. His assault case happened when he was only 16 years old. The accuser, who has only chosen to go by her first name, Jennifer, recently came public with claims that she’s been intimidated by their case over the years.
VladTV reported, “the accuser “Jennifer,” says that she immediately reported the incident [in 1996], but she adds that her adoptive mother told her, “Sorry you got r*ped, but you should have screamed.” She also adds that Petty’s parents told her family that she and Petty were dating, which she denies. Jennifer added, “My family allowed his mother and father to take me to go see a district attorney and pretend like [they were] my aunt and uncle. I think I kind of always just felt like people wanted me to be a liar.”
She never went on to recant her admission despite several people trying to convince her to, and was later severely harassed because of it. She ended up having to move to Florida. Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty was convicted in the case and was required to register as an offender after his release.
Kenneth failed to register upon moving to California on 2019. Because of this, fans and associates of Nicki Minaj began harassing Jennifer. On several occasions she’s been offered money to write a letter stating that she’d lied about Petty.
Daily Beast reported “In one instance, Jennifer says her estranged brother told her “a man named Jamie from New York had called their cousin in North Carolina, offering $500,000 if Jennifer spoke with a lawyer representing Petty.” Another time, her brother’s close friend “offered her $20,000 in cash if she agreed to sign a letter he’d typed that stated she’d lied about her assault.”
She has refused to sign any such documents or accept any money and has had to move 3 in 2020 out of fear for her life. Because Jennifer, Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty all grew up in the same neighborhood, they share a complex network of people that continue to reach out to Jen and pass her information along to the Pettys and their associates. Her daughter recalled via facebook one incident when a man, (who’s alleged to be an associate of Nicki Minaj and her husband) pulled up on her mother offering money for her cooperation.
