Talk Show Host Wendy Williams Claims Tyrese ‘Borrowed’ Wife Samantha Lee To ‘Cover Up’ His Real Life, Tells Wife To Keep Walking

Tyrese is back in the headlines for family issues, this time pertaining to his soon to be ex-wife.  The two got married in a secret ceremony on Valentine’s Day in 2017, to which he acknowledged on social media with a picture of the two and the caption “TMZ actually got it right! This time!”  However, after nearly 4 years of marriage, they have decided to call it quits.

“We have decided to make a statement of a painful and significant development in our lives,” the couple wrote in a joint statement on Instagram. “After much thought, consideration, and prayer, We unfortunately have made the difficult decision to officially separate & divorce.”

Following their marriage in 2017, they shared a daughter, Soraya Lee Gibson, the following year.  Throughout the lengthy statement they made it clear that even though they have made the decision to dissolve their marriage, they will remain cordial in the future and have no regrets in choosing to become partners.

“Our intention is to remain the best of friends & strong coparents,” they continued. “We feel incredibly blessed to have found each other and deeply grateful for the 4 years we have been married to each other. Our journey together has been a ride of both ups & downs, but it’s a journey that neither of us would have chosen to take with anyone else.  We truly have so much love & respect for each other. We both have grown tremendously within this relationship; we have shared so many beautiful memories and moments, and we also look forward to see the amazing futures we have ahead of us individually.”

The singer/actor then shared a video of some happier times between the couple on his Instagram but captioned it with his opinion on the current state of families in the African-American community.  “Black families and marriages are under attack…” he captioned the video.  “I’ve wrestled with this question… How can we naturally know how to BE something we were never raised by? Most of us were raised in broken homes with NO examples of what being a husband, wife or FATHER is….I repeat…. How can we naturally know how to BE something we were never raised by?”  He concluded by saying that Samantha helped him to be a “better man of God, friend, and father” and that he was her “forever husband.”

Talk show maven Wendy Williams of course caught wind of the drama and had much to say about it.  Williams and Tyrese have an interesting history, in that he was once banned from being a guest on her show due to the jealousy of her ex-husband Kevin Hunter.  “He hasn’t been here in three or four years, right,” Williams once said of Tyrese. “I’m like, ‘Where have you been?’ He goes, ‘Your husband banned me because he thought I was flirting with you.’ ”Are you serious, Kevin? Are you serious? Who are you flirting with?!”  He has since been on her show to promote his latest film, and things seemed to be back to a great space for the two until perhaps his latest statements on Black families.

Labeling both Tyrese and his soon to be ex-wife Samantha “beautiful” people, Williams spoke to her audience (who she calls her co-hosts) of the divorce news between the couple.  However, Wendy, never shy of dropping a bombshell, came forward with claims from a source “in her building” (while being sure to protect the identity of the source and which department he works in) that Gibson “only borrowed Samantha and got married for a moment to cover up the rest of his activities.”

“Tyrese blamed him getting divorced on the ‘broken Black family, Black families being under attack,’” she went on to say on her “Hot Topics” segment.  “He posted, most us of… us! ‘Black  people.’  Most of us were raised in broken homes.  Now, I beg to differ.  I was not raised in a broken home.”

She then began to directly address Tyrese… “Listen Tyrese, you’re now 42 years old,” she began.  “I think it’s a lame excuse to say you’re divorcing your wife because.. you don’t have a good example.  You’re old enough now to know how to handle those deep seeded wounds, and I guess they’re deep and they’re seeded.  But handle that in therapy privately.”

After highlighting that his ex Samantha was the one that walked out, she continued.  “Tyrese you have a better life than most everybody.  When you were young, on the back of the bus with the Coca-Cola?  Since then you know in-tact families like the Washingtons… you know the Pinkett-Smiths.  You know the ‘L. Jacksons’.  Like, you know intact households.”

Williams moves on to addressing Samantha now, saying “Samantha, you keep on walking.  You’re still young.  You’re 31.  He’s shown his colors.  And on social media.”
