Congratulations are in order for couple, Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert! The two have much to celebrate as the newest addition to the Shumpert household arrived Sunday night (Sept. 6) and just like her older sister, was born on their bathroom floor instead of the hospital and without hospital assistance. Shumpert took his Instagram to break the news of the healthy delivery of baby Rue Rose, as well as debut a picture of the beautiful newborn.
“At 3:28 am on Sept 6th, 2020 Rue Rose decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit,” he shared. “She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!! Now…when we buy homes, we always find a bathroom with great energy… but not in a million years would you be able to tell me we’d deliver both of our daughters in a bathroom without the assistance of a hospital!”
He continued on in the emotional post, “our newest edition entered the world in the water and came out looking around and ready to explore! A healthy child. A little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins….again. Welcome babygirl…we love you!”
The Brooklyn Nets shooting guard and the R&B singer made headlines back in 2015 when they welcomed their first daughter, Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. (affectionately known as “Junie”), to the world. Originally due mid-January, Shumpert would have to deliver the baby on December 16 and use a pair of headphones to steady the umbilical cord until paramedics could arrive, due to Teyana unexpectedly going into labor while in the bathroom.
For baby Rue’s birth, this time the NBA player could stand back whilst Erykah Badu was on hand to be the doula. In an Instagram video on Labor Day, the “Bag Lady” singer says “Now that Rue Rose is here, time to charge up some baby shirts — let’s go. I remember reading that Emoto said that human consciousness could affect the molecular structure of water. The intention could change the cellular patterns.” She captions the video saying “Welcome @babyruerose @teyanataylor @imanshumpert. They did that. Thank you both for allowing me to assist. Love, proud Badoula- aka ‘The welcoming Committee.’ Shine Rue !! (Film by e.B.).”
The excited father took to his IG story to praise his wife’s body after giving birth, where he shared the message “I searched Teyana body at least 3 times after Rue got here… not one stretch mark… sound the alarm lol. That dirty 30 gone be turn!!!” The NBA star seems to have come under a bit of fire as he later returned to apologize for his statement and offer up some clarification.
“There was some confusion in my dms about the “stretch mark” comment,” he explained. “I didn’t say there was something wrong with them. Nor did I mean for that to be a one up. I was a 12lb 4oz baby that my mom had naturally. I know what carrying a baby does to a woman’s body…I was just stating it’s impressive that my wife still has none. To those women that do have ‘beauty marks’,” Shumpert continued on, “I hope ur man kisses every one of them to thank you for the children you brought into this world.” He ended the heartfelt message with simply “Love is love”.
