Teyana Taylor’s pregnancies have been interesting, which she also puts front and center on her latest album The Album. On track one of her current opus, Taylor features the audio call of her husband, NBA player Iman Shumpert, having to call 911 when their daughter was delivered prematurely. Shumpert himself delivered the little girl, at home, in the bathroom and without hospital assistance.
In the video for her song “Wake Up Love,” the couple revealed their latest addition to the world – another pregnancy. Also new to many, Iman Shumpert has also become a rapper, following in his wife’s footsteps and appearing on the track as well. The best part about the video features the daughter that he delivered with his own hands, rubbing on Teyana’s pregnant belly in a cute moment for the whole family.
About 60 celebrities came out to fete the pregnant Taylor at an exclusive release party earlier this year to celebrate the Juneteenth release of The Album, and many were worried for the pregnant Taylor’s health.
In pictures, many celebrities are seen without masks, worrying the fans that a pregnant Taylor was unnecessarily exposing herself to have an album release party in the middle of a pandemic. However, the trademark outspoken Taylor took to radio DJ Angie Martinez to tell folks they had “COVID police and medics” to make sure everyone was being safe – and that they were “extremely safe.”
“So this is what I knew was kind of gonna happen,” she told Martinez. “If you notice, we all had yellow suits. They were custom HAZMAT suits … custom masks, everything … It was hot. You know, as a pregnant woman, I can’t breathe in them things. You got to realize, if everybody got on masks, the photographers can’t get what they want…”
It turns out that all is well, and the hazmat suits did what they were designed for, because Taylor’s finally given birth to a healthy baby girl, again with the help of her husband Iman Shumpert, at home in their own bathroom.
“At 3:28 am on Sept 6th 2020 Rue Rose decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit,” Shumpert announced on social media. “She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!! Now…when we buy homes, we always find a bathroom with great energy… but not in a million years would you be able to tell me we’d deliver both of our daughters in a bathroom without the assistance of a hospital! Our newest edition entered the world in the water and came out looking around and ready to explore! A healthy child. A little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins….again. Welcome babygirl…we love you!”
With so little time having passed since delivery, Teyana’s turning heads with her return to showing off her signature six pack abs, new baby or not. Her husband showcased her return to form, post-pregnancy and pandemic inactivity, sharing that he’s been looking forward to a return of “physical activities” for the last 8 months.
