Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert just celebrated the birth of their second bundle of joy this week, and all should be smiles and celebrations, but a new message has been discovered by fans from the NBA player that have left some questioning if something in the pot is all the way clean in the Shumpert household.
As reported earlier, the “Wake Up Love” artists welcomed their new daughter, Rue Rose, on Sunday night on the bathroom floor of their residence. This time, instead of Shumpert handling delivery duties as he did for first daughter Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr., aka Junie, singer Erykah Badu took his place. In an emotional post dedicated to baby Rue, the Brooklyn Nets player shared “At 3:28 am on Sept 6th, 2020 Rue Rose decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit. She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!! Now…when we buy homes, we always find a bathroom with great energy… but not in a million years would you be able to tell me we’d deliver both of our daughters in a bathroom without the assistance of a hospital!”
The baby shower, held hours before baby Rue entered the world, was held at The Gathering Spot in Atlanta, Georgia. Teyana joined husband Shumpert and daughter Junie in all red (down to her hair) as they celebrated amongst close friends and family. The star-studded event included Lala Anthony, Karreuche Tran, Lori Harvey, Karen Civil, Ming Lee Simmons, and many more that came out to celebrate with the family.
It’s not a secret that Lori Harvey is extremely close to the couple. She has been seen hanging with the two, or by sans one another, in many a photo. Shumpert decided to post a picture of the two at the baby shower on his stories, among other dedicatory messages to others that were in attendance, but the choice of the caption is what is pushing fans to question the nature of their relationship.
“I can’t tell y’all enough about this beautiful soul,” says Iman about Steve Harvey’s stepdaughter. “She is a true testament of unconditional love.” The latter part of his statement seemed to bother social media users who came across the message, as many chimed in with their thoughts, deeming his choice of words “inappropriate”.
“It’s the ‘unconditional love’ part that don’t sit right with me. Yes, friends can have unconditional love towards each other, but this seems to cross the inappropriate line,” commented one social media user. “Shouldn’t he be expressing his love to his wife and children?” another wrote. “I would think they would be more focused on the new life in their household. Just seems like odd timing.” Replying to that comment, someone else wrote “Too busy searching her for stretch marks.”
Perhaps his words were misconstrued, but social media wants Iman to direct that unconditional love and word choice to his wife and children.
