Tiffany Haddish Reveals She Rejected Her Role In Chris Rock’s Top 5, After Being Asked To Have Three Some With ‘Messy’ Ending

Tiffany Haddish has catapulted into stardom after many a year being a supporting comedian to her friends such as Kevin Hart, who knew Tiffany for years before she made her breakthrough. She’s been very open about her earlier life and her struggles as a rising comedian.

Back in 2017, the world finally got their first glance at Tiffany Haddish in her critically acclaimed breakout role in Girls Trip with castmates Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, and Jada Pinkett Smith. Girls Trip was a box office success, becoming the first black-led movie to cross $100M at the box office.

Since Tiffany’s role as Dina on Girls Trip, Tiffany’s career has catapulted starring in many blockbuster films, hosting Saturday Night Live, Netflix Specials, and a ton of endorsement deals.

The 40-year-old actress/comedian  recently took part in The Hollywood Reporter Comedy Actress Roundtable. During the interview, Haddish was asked about the lane Hollywood has her in and is it the lane she wants to be in. While answering the question, Tiffany revealed she was once offered a role in Chris Rock’s film, Top 5.

“You know, when I first hit the scene, I was offered a lot of roles where they want you to expose your breasts. I remember that movie that Chris Rock did [Top Five] and it’s like he meets the two girls and they have a threesome and then Cedric [the Entertainer] gets in there and he’s supposed to “blah” all over their faces — just let that baby batter go all up in their face. And it was like, “Tiffany, they’re offering you the role.” And I was like, “I don’t want that role. I’m a stand-up comedian and I don’t let people do that in my face in real life, so why would I do it in this movie?”

Tiffany then revealed the scene seemed a bit disrespectful to her.
“Like, you ought to have a little bit of respect for me, period. God made this face for a reason, and you’re not going to disrespect it… It’s like, I’m a company, I’m a brand, and if you try to go against the policy of the company, you might not need to be working here anymore.”

The actress/comedian went on to discuss the roles casting directors are currently giving her. “You know what’s been coming my way a lot lately? The mama who’s been through something, whose kid ends up being hurt in some way and fighting for justice. And the baby’s sick or I’m trying to get out of jail,” Haddish said. “Like, no, I’m not doing that. I know people who live that, I’m not doing it. Unless it’s super, super good. The writing has to be impeccable. A lot of times it’s telling these stories that could be powerful, but the writing [turns out to be] garbage.”
