Beloved actor Tommy “Tiny” Lister was one of the unfortunate passings the world endured during the seemingly relentless 2020. Known by fans as “Deebo”, the Friday actor was a staple in the minds of fans of the film franchise as well as the countless other projects he appeared in. At the time of his passing, it believed that Lister was a casualty of the pandemic. Today fans found out his true cause of death.
2020 brought with it many tragic deaths at the hand of virus. Beloved TV personality Larry King was reportedly one of the virus’s victims. Shawn Southwick King, his wife, confirmed that his passing was due to “an infection, it was sepsis”, later confirm that King had a bout with the virus that really ran him down. Well, he was finally ready to go, I will tell you that. You know, he never wanted to go but his sweet little body was just, it had just been hit so many times with so many things and once we heard the word, all of our hearts just sunk. But he beat it, you know, he beat it, but it did take its toll and then the unrelated infection finally is what took him, but boy, he was not gonna go down easily.”
Tony-nominated Broadway star Nick Cordero was another person lost to the virus. Codero’s wife Amanda Kloots documented his struggle with the virus over a 95 day period. During this time Cordero had to get both legs amputated due to clotting, “My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”
Lister was believed to have succumbed to the virus as well as it was reported that he was tested positive for COVID at the time of his death. The 62 year-old actor was famous for his role as Deebo in the Friday trilogy, with fans eager to see if he reprised his role in the long rumored 4th installment. Lister was born on June 24, 1958, in Compton, California. Outside of Friday, he also starred in the cult classic film The 5th Element as the president of the United States. Other appearance included Star Trek: Enterprise, The Dark Knight, Little Nicky, Austin Powers In Gold Member, and the Human Centipede final installment.
He also had a brief career as a professional wrestler.
Medical Examiners confirmed today that Lister died from an enlarged heart with high blood pressure, poor circulation in his legs and coronary artery disease. While he had the virus at the time of death and fluid in his lungs, it was heart disease that claimed his life.
TMZ broke the story … the 62-year-old actor died suddenly last year at his L.A.-area home. Paramedics responded, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
