July 12, 2020 will forever go down as a day that changed the lives of both rapper/singer Tory Lanez, and rapper Megan Thee Stallion, and not in the way that surely either of them hoped. What started off as a house party amongst various prominent celebrity attendees (which included the two) and other party guests took a turn for the worst, leading up to the unfortunate incident between Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez.
Prior to this incident, both Megan, one of hip-hop’s freshest faces and rising stars, and Tory Lanez, had been experiencing a pretty monumental year. Megan, coming off a pretty successful 2019 career-wise, brought an even more amplified energy into 2020.
Fast forward to the evening of the incident. Hours earlier, on Saturday night, Megan and Tory were spotted on IG Live at a house party at Kylie Jenner’s mansion in Holmby Hills, CA. All seemed to be just fine, until multiple reports began to surface of the two, and another woman, were all involved in an incident outside of a Hollywood Hills residence at 4:30am.
Megan remained noticeably silent for a period of time, leaving many to assume different scenarios. One being the most prevalent, was the story of Tory Lanez being responsible due to a “lover’s quarrel” between the two. TMZ soon obtained footage, revealing Tory, Megan, and the unnamed woman being detained. Megan, seen exiting the vehicle barefoot and was transported to the hospital (not shown in the footage).
Speculations continued to arise even more as fans continued to wonder what really happened, and as Megan and the authorities dispelled little to no information. A series of now deleted tweets from Megan’s producer, Lil Ju, fueled the fire, including one simply saying ““@torylanez count your f—king days.”
After some weeks, smoke began to clear up little by little, when Megan went live on her IG to “clear the air” on the situation, further denouncing more rumors, and labeling it the “worst experience of my life”.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be alive and that I’m expected to make a full recovery, but it was important for me to clarify the details about this traumatic night.” Throughout the 10-minute session, she gives no mention of Lanez, neither does she give any details leading up to the incident.
Following the Live, her “Hotties” the name her fans are affectionately labeled, as well as a bevy of other supporters, created a petition via change.org to have Tory Lanez sent back to Canada. The petition has already amassed a total of 19,000 signatures. “Furthermore,” the petition continues on, “he should be banned from the United States FOEVER for intentionally trying to harm Megan the [sic] Stallion. SEND HIM BACK TO CANADA ASAP!”
It was reported by The Jasmine Brand that Tory had been sent back to Canada over the incident. “Everything is being kept top secret right now, but he was deported after his arrest.” They also reportedly told by sources, “he won’t return to the U.S. until his sentencing/court date.”
This is proving to be false, however, as Lanez was recently spotted at a McDonald’s – in Orlando, Florida. According to blog The Neighborhood Talk, Lanez’ security also asked the person filming to delete the video, which clearly didn’t happen.
The blog also reports that they’ve received an exclusive from a source connected directly to Tory that gave them a statement – the first anyone has heard from Lanez since all of this drama went down.
“Obviously Tory has not been deported and is self-quarantining with his family. This is a perfect example of false information being spread regarding this case, his whereabouts and his character. He’s in good spirits and looks forward to having the truth come to light about that night and wishes nothing but the best for Meg.”
