There’s been a lot of talk on the Internet about Birkin bags, who deserves to own them and what you should do about men that can’t afford to buy you one if you’re with them. With celebrities posting their latest Birkin acquisitions or including it in their lyrics, rapper Trick Daddy is weighing in with his thoughts.
You know things are out of hand potentially, when even Cardi B’s young daughter Kulture is rocking Birkin bags. Lavishing their first child with gifts is something most parents do. Even the Internet pointed out how often other celebrities do the exact same things that Cardi and Offset do but do not get the same reaction about.
Presenting Kulture with the box, Offset opens her gift while mother Cardi records, revealing a pink Birkin bag worth about $9,000 apparently. Cute Kulture holds the purse in the crook of her arm before becoming seemingly uninterested and setting the purse back in the box before the video ends.
Cardi, of course, took to her Instagram stories to hit back at fans and their opinions on her daughter, much as she’s done before.
“Celebrity kids, they go to red carpets. And if I’m fly and daddy’s fly, then so is the kid. If I’m wearing [Chanel], my kid’s having the same thing. It’s not up to what the kids like. If it was [up to] the kids, they’d be outside in diapers,” Cardi said in her video. Lastly, she summed it all up with one last jab at the haters.
“So I’m not mad that daddy bought baby a Birkin. She gon’ match mommy.”
Offset has continued to gift his wife expensive items, even in the midst of her filing divorce. Cardi’s basically shared that she also likes things and that’s one of the reasons why she chose to stay with her husband. Taking over Vegas for her birthday, the rapper partied with then-estranged husband Offset, Megan Thee Stallion and even Kylie Jenner, who showed up bearing gifts for the “Bodak Yellow” rapper, whom reportedly gave her a baby blue Birkin bag.
Though it could be said that Cardi is very much an independent woman, rapper Trick Daddy thinks that the luxury item isn’t for Black women specifically – and claims that the “independent woman” streak isn’t worth the Birkin bag cost of admission.
“Y’all’ running around with these Birkin Bags. They didn’t even design that bag for you, they don’t even want y’all with that bag. That’s why they charge so much for it, That’s for the rich white elite and foreign folk. Stay out them people’s business.,” Trick said as part of a lengthy rant.
He also said that “A lot of independent women end up lonely and sad” because being an independent woman is a “24 hour job” that doesn’t leave time for anything else – including a man. While Trick applauds the ability to afford what they want, he does caution that men won’t feel their gifts are appreciated if everything is just about money and Birkin bags.
