Social media is not everyone’s friend. In the age of information, stars who’s off color comments might have once gone unnoticed are not being crucified left and right. Nothing you say or do today stays between you and the person you said it to. If you’re a major star or someone with a platform, that means the odds of something going viral and getting you “canceled” are incredibly high, especially when it comes to your opinions on the likes of Jay-Z and Beyonce. The powerhouse couple have amassed quite the powerful following during their decades long careers, and Beyonce’s “Beyhive” is especially vicious when it comes to defending their queen. Florida rapper Trick Daddy is learning this lesson as they hive swarmed in to demolish reviews of his restaurant in light of recent comments made about Mrs. Carter.
During an interview with 99 Jamz, Trick Daddy told the hosts that he felt Beyonce was not talented. “Beyonce don’t write music and barely can sing.” He elaborated, “Man, I watched my god momma train Beyoncé vocal lessons all her career,” Trick continued. “I’mma give an unpopular opinion right now: Beyoncé is to R&B what Jay-Z is to New York. That’s why they together. Jay-Z ain’t never won the greatest rapper alive. Whoever put him on a level like that?” He went on to say that he felt Jay-Z became more popular in the wake of Notorious B.I.G’s passing because New York “needed a hero”.
Many took to social media to either voice their support or anger, with his former protege taking to her accounts to let her love for Beyonce be known. Posting a video of Beyonce in concert to her IG, she captioned it ALL day, Everyday… The Queen 👑🐝🧡”. Fans in the comments were hysterical noting how quickly she removed herself from the wrath of the hive. Obviously Trina is familiar with how Beyonce’s fanbase works, but Trick Daddy was unaware and got the surprise of his life when realizing the beyhive got together to collectively lower the rating on his restaurant.
In a string of screenshots posted to The Shade Room, you can see a handful of clever comments from the beyhive letting it be know that the food was bad and “can’t sing”. One person said “I’ve never in my life tasted such filth. but the Lemonade on the otherhand, was divine”, a reference to her critically acclaimed album of the same name.
Trick has since made an attempt to clear it up saying that while he agrees Beyonce can sing, she is not on the level of Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey.
