Will and Jada are under fire again. This time, the assailant is YouTube personality, actress, model, and singer, Trisha Paytas.
Responding to fan questions on a recent YouTube video, Paytas charged Jada, “How about your daughter […] at 13 with her 20-year-old boyfriend.” She continued to disparage the pair saying, “Jada Pinkett? Jada Pinkett? Really? Worry about your cheating husband [messing with] my male dancers when they didn’t want to. How about you talk about that.”

Hyperbole or nah?
The 21-minute upload began to turn when Paytas embarked on a lengthy defense of famed fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson.
Dawson is a comedian, actor, writer and director known for racially charged humor and impersonations often satirizing black and brown stereotypes while in blackface makeup and even using the n-word in several. Jada Pinkett-Smith decried his actions when a video of Dawson simulated touching himself while looking at picture of then 11-year-old Willow Smith. Earlier this summer, Jada tweeted, “To Shane Dawson…I’m done with the excuses.”
Paytas allegations aren’t the first hurled at the Hollywood power couple. The pair tied the knot in 1997 and have been ensconced in rumors of scandals ever since: backstage chatter of being swingers, of having an open marriage, of their sexuality…the list goes on and on.
The two managed to keep the swirling salacious slander at bay with some notable joint-effort verbal stiff arms over the 23 years until…”The Entanglement.” Rapper- R&B Singer August Alsina dropped a bombshell on celebrity media, detailing a lengthy affair with Pinkett-Smith that – at least by his account – had Will Smith’s blessing.
All of that tea spilling forced Will and Jada to do a public conversation, or perhaps more accurately stated, a public confrontation. Jada largely admitted to August Alsina’s claims, infamously labeling the infidelity as an “entanglement” that took place during a previously agreed-upon separation. The duo vehemently denied the attestation that Alsina approached Will and obtained pre-approval, however.
Circling back to Paytas’ blistering remarks invites a fresh examination of the Smiths’ responses on their relationship over the years. Back in 2013, Jada stated in an interview with Huffpost Live that, “I’ve always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay.’ Because at the end of the day, Will is his own man. I’m here as his partner, but he is his own man. He has to decide who he wants to be and that’s not for me to do for him. Or vice versa.”
In a 2018 interview with Rap Radar, Will Smith said, “We don’t even say we’re married anymore. We refer to ourselves as ‘life partners,’ where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life. There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do—ever—nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support ‘till death, and it feels so good to get to that space.”
