Video Clip Of TV Host Ellen DeGeneres ‘Forcing’ Mariah Carey To Sip Champagne To Prove She Wasn’t Pregnant Resurfaces, Twitter Reacts

Just a few months ago, it would seem as though everybody loved comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.  Now she has become one of 2020’s super villains, as every day it seems a new story comes to light that only exacerbate’s the “toxic workplace” narrative of her hit daytime talk show.

Degeneres’s talk show “The Ellen Degeneres Show” has become a topic of intense conversation and deep scrutiny as of March 2020.  This year was not the first year that talks of Ellen’s behavior as well as questionable behavior on the set of the show from producers.  Ellen has always painted herself to be a crusader of kindness, but the veil is speedily being pulled down with past and present cast & crew coming forward with their stories.

In the midst of all the allegations that have come forward, it was recently been reported that Ellen has started to take steps to better the workplace.  Sources close to the show say that during a recent zoom call, the talk show host announced she is now going to be increasing benefits for the staff of her show, which will include more time off and is changing her policy for medical leave. She has also reportedly fired three of her top executive producers in efforts to do more damage control.  It’s being said that Degeneres offered an apology to the 200 people that were on the call.

Fans have been relentlessly digging up old content from The Ellen Degeneres Show to prove the allegations of Ellen’s underhanded nefarious behavior.  The latest incident to resurface is a cringe-worthy clip of the comedian interviewing multi-platinum Grammy Award winning artist, Mariah Carey.  In the clip, she pressures Carey into having a sip of champagne with her in hopes to confirm whether or not she was pregnant due to rumors that she was expecting.  

“People are saying that you are pregnant,” Ellen says, to which Mariah begins to laugh awkwardly and responds by saying “dont discuss that.”  Ellen proceeds to say that Mariah doesn’t have to answer it but gets out of her chair to grab a bottle of champagne nearby and glasses.  “Let’s just toast with champagne and decide…” says Ellen in efforts to dig for the answer, amongst cheers from the audience.  She pours champagne into both flutes in the clip, saying the two should cheers to Carey “not being pregnant”.  

Initially protesting the drink, and seeming noticeably pressured, Carey takes what looks like a sip of the alcohol, bringing Degeneres to exclaim “you’re pregnant!” Mariah was later confirmed to be pregnant with then-husband Nick Cannon’s child, but weeks later unfortunately miscarried, which she revealed was “emotionally devastating for her”.

The Ellen Degeneres Show is slated to return to daytime television next month, after being off-air during the pandemic.  Over the weekend, the host was approached by paparazzi near her home, and she declared that she will be talking to her fans.  No word on how she will address fans when the show returns, but we will have to wait until the show returns on Sept. 14th.
