Graduations are a momentous occasion that every young person looks forward to in their lives. Such was the case for Riley Burress, daughter of R&B artist Kandi Burress of Xscape, also a main cast member on Real Housewives of Atlanta, and most recently Showtime’s drama series “The Chi.” Of course, Riley and her family celebrated the occasion and documented the accomplishment on her Instagram page for the world to also join in – in the hopes of congratulatory responses.
However, while she did get a few sightings of congratulations under her personal page’s post, quite the opposite occurred when the picture was uploaded under different blog sites and hers, as many fans (and critics) noticed a difference in her face, specifically the nose.
“BCK” shared the photo on their social media account of young Burress flaunting her cap and gown, and was engulfed in negative comments.
“Wish she didn’t get her nose done,” one user writes amongst other comments like: “she looks different 😥, “Her nose look Jacksonish,” and “Now………WHAT THE EFF IS GOING ON?!.. Let me go on her page cause I know DAMN WELL!!!”, and even I wonder whats going on with her? She lost alot of weight then gained it right back and then got her nose done. But she still managed to graduate despite whatever is bothering her. Congratulations.”
Many begun to allude the high school graduate had received a nose job as a gift from her mother, Kandi. One fan responded to the alleged nose job with disgust. “Surprised Kandi let her get a nose job. But then I remember I don’t know any of these people personally & then again, it’s Hollyweird.” Other fans criticized Kandi for allowing her 17-year-old daughter to get the surgery because Kandi isn’t known to have any surgery on her face. “SMMFH IDC how much money I have not changing my face […] plus kandi where u go wrong on this situation. You never got surgery on your face why you let ya daughter do that I know she grown but g**damn she total different person.”
The negative behavior prompted both Riley and Kandi Burress to both limit access to their respective comment sections, and have taken the higher route to detract the haters. Ignoring the hate, Riley uploaded a candid of herself, glammed up, and all smiles, captioning the photo with a Nicki Minaj quotable, ‘”Shout out to my haters, sorry that you couldn’t phase me” – Nicki Minaj.'”
She uploaded another picture afterward with the caption, “Love me or hate me. Either way I’m on your mind.❤️”. Many came to her defense with words of encouragement, praising the young teen for her confidence and stance amidst the unwarranted backlash.
‘As Nicki says, “Tell ’em to go ‘head and gossip, as long as your house is the size of my closet,” one user commented. Followed by another supportive user quoting, “Call her honey because these bees be buzzing about her nonstop tryna cop what she got😤😍🍯.” Deyjah Harris and other celebrities also showed their support.
As most mothers would, Kandi stepped up in her daughter’s defense in a recent post on her stories, where she shared a clip of rapper Lil’ Scrappy speaking on the subject on if anyone speaks on his children on or off-line. She captions the story, “This is how I feel when people talk about my kids…” expressing her agreement with his sentiments.
