“Why Would She Do This To Her Own Mother?” Vanessa Bryant’s Mother Now Pleading For Sympathy, Says She Only Wants What She Worked For

The dust hadn’t settled long on Vanessa Bryant’s response to mother Sofia Laine’s lawsuit against her before Laine fired back. The 70-year-old mother of Vanessa Bryant felt compelled to clap back and clear up some misinformation about why she had to take it to the courts.

Her mother seems to have little sympathy for her these days. In bombshell news, Vanessa Bryant is being sued by her mother, in a move that Bryant is calling “embarrassing.”

TMZ caught the lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of California, Orange County, of course. Vanessa Bryant’s mother, Sofia Urbieta aka Laine filed a Complaint for Damages and requested a jury trial against her daughter and other various trusts that control the remaining fortunes of Kobe Bryant, claiming that her daughter has edged her out of things that were promised over the last 20 years.

Bryant spoke out about how her mother is essentially trying to sue her for “backpay” for being with her grandchildren, though her mother claims she was their nanny.

“Earlier this year, I was looking for a new home for her and, a week later, she went on television and gave an interview disparaging our family and making false accusations while living rent-free in a gated apartment complex in Newport Coast,” Bryant said.

“Even after that betrayal, I was willing to provide my mother with monthly support for the rest of her life and that wasn’t good enough. She, instead, contacted me through intermediaries — contrary to what she claims, my phone number hasn’t changed — and demanded $5 million, a house and a Mercedes SUV.”

Laine on the other hand claims in her suit she served as a nanny for the Bryant’s and worked around the clock and the holidays – with no meal or rest breaks. Vanessa Bryant’s mother also accused her of kicking her out of the home she was living in while Kobe Bryant was still alive.

“She has no regard for how this is affecting my children and me,” Bryant said of her mother.

Turnabout is fair play and just as quickly as Bryant released her statement, now Laine is getting her latest response out before the Internet has time to continuing paint her as the villain.

“For starters, I would like to state that I do not enjoy airing our family grievances in the public,” Sofia Laine said.

“Although I filed a lawsuit, I did not make any public comments and was hoping for the court process to run its course without the publicity, as hurtful as it is. I did not want this and do not want this.”

The statement got even more heartbreaking, as Laine pleads for sympathy from her daughter at her elder age in life.

“All I wanted is what I worked for. Vanessa, despite everything that I have been promised and done for her and the family, has attempted to sever all ties and renege on all obligations and agreements.”

“Why would she do this to her own mother? I am so disappointed, hurt, and wronged to the point that I had no choice but to file a lawsuit. “I am nearly 70 years old, my health is deteriorating, and my own daughter is doing this to me?”
