Willow Smith seems to be wiser than a lot of her peers and she shows her intelligence alongside her mother and grandmother on the show they all host, Red Table Talk. Willow’s very open and honest with her mother, a relationship that they’ve worked hard to seemingly keep intact. Still, being open with your mother can and will always be jarring, superstar or not.
Willow Smith has finally spoken on her parent’s very public mishaps and she’s doing it on the latest episode of Red Table Talk – showing her maturity and the value in the way that her parents raised her.
“I want to put it on the table. I’m so proud of you. To be able to see you and Dad do that, for me, that was like, ‘OK, that’s the real deal,'” Willow says on the latest episode of the show to air. “That’s real love,” she told her mother and other co-host, her grandmother.
There’s a wisdom that seems to be at the forefront of the younger Smith’s thoughts and while it comes from having parents like hers, it also comes from experiencing life on her own – and also, being embarrassed by her parents like any other kid would be.
On a prior episode of Red Table Talk, the family had “the talk” about intimacy that a lot of women don’t. They filmed the episode to talk openly about the issue between the three generations represented on the show, and Jada was surprised at some of her own daughter’s answers – as Jada’s mother was surprised in kind about her answers as well.
“I did not want Willow to have shame of any kind,” Jada Pinkett explained on the show about why she wanted to talk to her daughter about sex. “She needs to be at that table to hear it all.” Jada especially understands this because of how the Internet and other mediums can affect children and their understanding of intimacy.
“If I have to sit up here and tell her how she has to be careful in these streets because of all the harms that may come to her because she is a woman,” Jada Pinkett began. “Then, I am damn sure not leaving out the good stuff.”
Speaking of the good stuff, Jada got down to it with Willow, asking her what her first introduction to sex was. Jada was shocked to find out that it included her, and husband Will.
“My introduction to sex was obviously walking in on you and Daddy,” Willow drops. “That was the first introduction to sex. I think it was in Aspen. I was going downstairs to get some juice. I saw for a little moment, and then I ran away. I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is so crazy. What did I just see?’”
Of course, Jada pressed Willow on how discovering her parents made her feel and she had a great answer, regardless of her age.
“I just overstepped a boundary. I wasn’t supposed to be there. It was like if I walked in on you meditating. When Mommy is meditating, don’t get in her business.”
