Now that all the entanglements are on the table, it seems as if the Smith family is beginning the process of healing in the public eye. In their trademark manner, their using the media to both address and move on from their issues – with daughter Willow Smith breaking her silence about her parents’ recent issues.
Jada eventually admitted that the “personal journey” she’d been on with Alsina started over 4 years ago and but had now become “public.” Jada and Will shared that while their initial purposes of connecting with August Alsina were to help him because he was “really sick,” it became a physical relationship – after Will and Jada had apparently “broke up.” “I was done with you,” Will said openly. “It was indefinite,” Jada said, also agreeing that the two “were over.”
Calling it initially an “entanglement,” Jada also clarifies that Will didn’t give his “permission” for her relationship with August. Jada thinks that August thought the “permission” came from the fact that the couple wasn’t together and August didn’t want to be considered “a homewrecker.”
After news of the “entanglement” broke, Alsina was defiant in speaking his truth and it seems as if he had been all along. It was important to him that his “daughters” saw that as well. “I never really cared about what people thought of me, but my personal life started to seep into my business life,” said Alsina. “There were certain falsities about me, and it affected my business relationships. I got three kids to look after. Kill me, hate me, stone me, but bury me an honest man.”
After the drama, the pair, along with Willow, were spotted in The Bahamas at the super plush, exclusive Albany resort, according to Page Six. It seems they left after their record setting episode of Red Table Talk, which drew in 15 million viewers in 24 hours, breaking the record set by another previous episode of RTT.
Willow Smith has finally spoken on her parent’s very public mishaps and she’s doing it on the latest episode of Red Table Talk.
“I want to put it on the table. I’m so proud of you. To be able to see you and Dad do that, for me, that was like, ‘OK, that’s the real deal,'” Willow says on the latest episode of the show to air. “That’s real love,” she told her mother and other co-host, her grandmother. Author and speaker Brené Brown will also be appearing on the show to talk about vulnerability, a fitting topic.
It’s clear that Willow takes a lot of her mother’s lead, even joining the award-winning show alongside her and her grandmother. Jada shared on the show her own journey with vulnerability over the past few weeks, saying she experienced it as “a full blast of, like, flaws, and feeling and just the total breakdown of any mask.”
Willow no doubt has learned a valuable lesson about relationships and sharing your truths and it seems like watching her parents deal with this has shown her what a true relationship needs.
“When you can be like, I’m with you, I’m going to stand by you, and I’m going to hold your hand, that’s really important,” added Willow.
