Luther Vandross, as with many legendary acts, has been deceased for some time now. However, this unfortunately doesn’t make him exempt from stories that reveal his past. Outside of the authorized biography book that was released in 2004, alleged stories of Vandross’s past dealings with other acts of his time are coming to the light that the artist may not have expected to see the light of day.
An Egyptian/Sudanese-American woman by the name of Kola Boof is making some claims about legendary R&B singer Luther Vandross as well as one of the legendary Jackson family members. Boof, an author, and poet, has made controversial claims in the past, as well as being linked to Osama Bin Laden in the past as one of his mistresses. For those who aren’t aware of Boof, here is a brief backstory.
Boof came into worldwide popularity when her 2006 autobiography Diary of a Lost Girl was released that detailed her account of being the mistress to one of America’s Most Wanted criminals. Boof’s book also included claims of a plot towards her then-husband, Bobby Brown, with plans to woo her with one of his mansions. According to the author, Bin Laden had plans to “break his color rule” in order to make the “My Love Is Your Love” singer one of his wives.
In 2012, Kola Boof became involved in a battle with Kimora Lee Simmons and husband/actor Djimon Hounsou when she made claims of an alleged affair between the two. Headlines erupted once Boof tweeted that she had relations with Hounsou. “They never faithful, she just has to put up with it. And I rub it in. I f***s with her husband, Everytime she kisses him, she kisses my [expletive]”
In response to Boof’s claims, Kimora sent out a tweet of her own. “A real woman avoids drama, she knows her time is precious and she’s not wasting it on unimportant people, situations or things,” she said. Hounsou also tweeted a response saying, “I do not know, nor have I ever met this person,” adding, “I am a man of integrity and would never betray my wife or my family.”
Simmons attempted to silence her by way of legal action, to which Boof retaliated via social media. “This b—h wants me SILENCED on Twitter!!! lmao,” she tweeted at the time.
Outside of feeling a bit of a resurgence thanks to the newly released single by Fat Joe and DJ Khaled featuring viral sensation DJ Amorphous, which features a mash-up of Vandross’s 1981 classic “Never Too Much” and Rihanna’s 2016 critical smash “Kiss It Better, the legend is garnering some more attention thanks to a tweet from Boof. Actor/author Darryl Stephens tweeted an old photo of Luther Vandross posing in a pink room where he praises the singer saying that you “couldn’t tell Luther s**t.” Boof offered a response that has caught the eyes of many social media users.
“I got to meet Luther Vandross & even hung out with him when he was on a date with Randy Jackson (of the Jacksons) at CATCH ONE in Los Angeles,” she tweets. “One of the funnest nights I ever had. We were all drunk & talking about divas & dancing to “SheBop” by Cyndi Lauper.”

One of the funnest nights I ever had. We were all drunk & talking about divas & dancing to “SheBop” by Cyndi Lauper.
Social media users who were obviously not privy to the information reacted in shock. “On a what with who now?!” wrote one user. Another commented, “No she didnt just casually say he was on a date with randy lmao.”
Once her tweet went viral and quite a few social media users labeled her as “messy”, Kola tweeted her regrets for her recollection and apologized to the Jackson sibling. “OMG!!!!I wish I hadn’t said anything,” admitted Boof. “I’m so sorry if I caused Randy Jackson any strife….I truly didn’t mean to. And what do I know? They could have been just hanging out collaborating as musicians. I shouldn’t have said anything. I was so drunk that night. We all were,” she confessed.
