Some people got the sound but not the look,” said Banks, as reported by Bossip, “but with me having both, it makes people stop and pay attention to what I got going on.” The rapper is from Dallas, Texas and is in her 20s. She first introduced herself to the music scene when she uploaded her single “Talk My Sh*t” to SoundCloud, but it wasn’t until one fateful night when she was able to connect with Houston-based 1501 Certified Entertainment CEO and former MLB All-Star Carl Crawford over Instagram Live that she would begin to see her breakout.
“When Carl clicked on me for us to go Live together, I played my newest single ‘Buss It’ for him,” Banks recalled of the Live where Crawford, known for signing another breakout female Hip-Hop artist, Megan Thee Stallion. “He liked it. A couple of weeks after the Live, he reached out to me and asked if I was signed to any other label. I told him no, and that’s when he decided to sign me to his team. I was excited. I didn’t know what to expect. All of this was new for me. But I was definitely interested in what he had to talk about.”
The song has since blown up and the rapper recently announced via social media the good news that she’s accomplished being signed to Warner. “I am proud to announce that I am now signed to @warnerrecords @warnerbrosentertainment,” she captions a video where she’s seen popping champagne with Crawford. “Thank you to EVERYBODY supporting me, and thank you to @1501_certified_ent… I’m just gettin started!”
